Whole Food Plant Based Diets are one of the healthiest ways to eat.  Why, you may ask?  I'm here to tell you... 

 A Plant Based Diet is a diet comprised mainly of plants.  This means you minimize or eliminate processed foods and oils and avoid all animal products of any kind while at the same time maximizing your intake of fruits, vegetables, legumes, whole grains, nuts, and seeds.  

Plant-based diets help prevent chronic

diseases like diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.

 

For individuals who already have diabetes, heart disease or are overweight, a whole foods plant based diet can help them reverse and even rid the disease altogether.    

A plant-based diet supports good gut health.

Diets low in plants and high in animal products increase inflammation in our bodies and disrupts our healthy gut flora in our guts.  This inflammation can wreak havoc  in our guts causing gastrointestinal problems, obesity and even colon cancers.  Eating diets that are high in fiber and high in resistance starches, coming mainly from plant-based whole foods like, grains, seeds and legumes can increase the healthy bacteria in our gut. 

A plant-based diet helps with your weight goals in a healthy way. 

Eating tons of fresh produce, healthy plant-based fats (avocado, nuts, and seeds), and plant-based proteins (including legumes, soy, and protein-rich grains like quinoa, farro, and bulgur) makes it easier to maintain your weight and lose excess weight in a healthy way. 

 

Plant-based foods contain a plethora of skin enhancing nutrients.

 

Skin enhancing nutrients include all the vitamins, minerals and antioxidants we need for glowing skin.  Foods like avocados, raw nuts, leafy greens, artichokes, and blueberries are amazing for your skin.
